Our Mission
To perpetuate the memory and spirit of Stephen M. O’Grady by the encouragement and promotion of education and development of youth through voluntary grants, by scholarships or otherwise, to individuals, institutions, and organizations.
The Stephen M. O'Grady Scholarship Foundation is an all-volunteer non-profit organization founded to honor the life and work of Stephen O'Grady, Salem Little League Coach and Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem. Steve was tragically killed by a drunk driver in September 1999. It was less than a month after his 30th birthday.
Since the Stephen M. O'Grady Foundation was formed in the Spring of 2000, we have donated over $313,000 to support local youth causes, including 276 scholarships totaling $242,000 to Salem Little League, Babe Ruth, and Boys & Girls Club alumni. We also supported the Salem High School after-prom events and donated over $71,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem.
In 2019, after 20 years of dedicated fundraising, we retired our dance and golf events but will continue to award yearly scholarships and accept donations to support our efforts to recognize Salem youth as they advance from childhood to adulthood.
Thanks to your support, we will assist Salem youth with their educational pursuits in Steve's memory for many years to come!
In February 2019, the Stephen M. O’Grady Foundation and the Delorenzo family teamed up to donated an ‘almost new’ van to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem.
